Dominicans for Justice and Peace Nigeria and Ghana

About Us

Dominicans for Justice and Peace Nigeria and Ghana is an NGO managed by the  Dominican Province of St. Joseph the Work Nigeria and Ghana. This Province has the name Order of Preachers, Nigeria as its legal corporation title.

This NGO is the Nigerian arm of   Dominicans for Justice and Peace  a body that represents the Dominican Order at the United Nations (UN) - created in 1998 by the International Dominican Justice and Peace Commission and endorsed by the General Council of the Order as a Permanent Delegation of the Order at the UN, with its seat in Geneva. Dominicans for Justice and Peace obtained Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the UN (ECOSOC) in 2002.

Primarily, this NGO is dedicated to the promotion of justice and peace in Nigeria. Involvement in “Justice and peace” for the Dominicans is not just an extra activity. Rather, as preachers of the Good News, the promotion of justice and peace is at the heart of Dominican life.

Specifically, this NGO is involved in many fields of action related to justice and peace, such as the promotion of good governance and struggles against corruption, the protection of human rights, food security, support for vulnerable or street children, prostitution, and trafficking in persons, and empowerment of women.

In carrying out these actions, the Dominicans in Nigeria, through the aid of their supporters, are fulfilling the mission of Christ - who was sent to bring the Good News to the poor, to set the prisoners and the downtrodden free, to be the voice of the voiceless and to restore justice and peace in our lives, in our relationships, and in our society.

Why Donate to Us?

There is a popular saying that: “Some give to the Mission by going, Some go to the Mission by giving, without both, there is no Mission”. Dominicans give to the Mission by going, but they depend on the goodwill of other Christian faithful to make their mission complete and fruitful.
